In some cases, these people posted legitimate posts
(like you) then were hacked. How would we block such
posts unless we employ full moderation?

Yahoo seems to have had better spam control, but
there are no more archives or files anymore.

Re: Motorola CM200 MDC1200 signaling?

For the cps I have you go to signaling, MDC systems, edit the MDC default system or create a new one.  In there you enter in your MDC ID and things like pre/post ID type etc.   Then go to conventional personalities, choose the personality you want to add MDC to by changing the Signaling System drop down box to the MDC system you edited or created in the first step.

The CM 200 has no full display as you know so of course it can only do encode not decode.

Hi tnx,

This software allowed any frequency ftom 403-470mhz

But pll did not locked on speaker bip bip bip on 434.725 on 447.800 work normally.

Radio is tuned to 403-433 and 438-470

Ham band 433-438 is subband and pll not locked.

Any ideas?

Thanks for helping

That might just be to put a minus (-) before the frequency.  It works for the GM300 radio’s and if I am mistaken for the M110.

Re: Motorola M110

Charles Schmell

If you used Moto software, Does the "Shift key" trick work?

When typing in freq out of split:

Hold Shift, type numbers
Release Shift for decimal (.)
Shift and type rest of numbers, fiil out field with zeros.

Example:  446.0000    would be $$^.))))
Program will convert to proper numbers.
Now, depending on the type radio, the radio will not refer to tuning info since tuning spots are not in new band.

Power can go from 0 -A LOT (over rated power)
Deviation can go squirrelly.

Depends on model radio.

Gm 300s behave better than Maxtrac or Radius radios.
Not familiar with M110.

Check Batlabes!

Re: Dosbox and Moto software/radios

If a 16550 i art is causing issues, turn off the internal buffer on the chip, in windows it’s on the com port properties or advanced tab.

16450s were an 8250 UART work alike but with some bug fixes.

Re: Dosbox and Moto software/radios

Wayne Rees

I run dosbox on a macbook pro and as long as the usb to serial cable works on the mac dosbox will work fine. I have not had any issues with any older motorola radios yet, i have done mt1000, visar, and a variety of others from that era.

The other issue is, lot of the newer COM port computers have a 16550 UART, or 16550a UART. This is also what USB to Serial adapters will emulate. But, some of the older computers had a 16540 UART and that is what some of the radios and software expect to find. Some radios and/or their software simply need an old computer, slower clock cycles, pure MS-DOS and a 16540 UART. Other radios are more forgiving.

There are differences in the uarts over the decades. But I'm not sure it's near as much of an issue as the typical USB to Serial device issues.

Remember, 16550's became a thing in 286 days, and by 386 timeframe was increasingly the norm. Many of the "you have to use an old laptop" computers used successfully for DOS based RSS/CPS have 16550's.

But if it is an issue with dosbox and windows, I found one writeup from a british ham that had the magic answer.

The trick is to go into Windows Device manager, open the serial device advanced properties for the device in question, and set the buffer to 0. That's usually all it takes.

I had several work before I learned this trick, but now I do this if I see any serial issues with older SW.

But the biggest single issue I've seen is non-FTDI USB to Serial adapters. The Prolific brand usually will not work with DOS based programs.

Have fun,

Alan
